Frederikke Jul Vedelsby is working across drawing, text, and time-based media. With her work she is suggesting irregularity .
Graduated with an MFA from the Malmö Art Academy, Sweden (2020), studied at the Maumaus Independent Study Programme, Portugal (2021), and specialized in critical writing at Biskops Arnö, Sweden (2022). Recent residencies at PAiR, Latvia, The Nordic Art Association (NKF), Sweden, Materia Abierta, Mexico, DIA, Greece, Can Serrat, Spain and a workshop at Fundation Botín led by Roni Horn and Isabel de Naverán in Santander, Spain (2023). Vedelsby has been exhibited at Shower, Seoul, South Korea, matteocantarella, Copenhagen, Denmark, Kunsthal Kongegaarden, Kørsor, Denmark, Malmö Konsthall, Malmö, Sweden, Delfi, Malmö, Den Frie Udstillingsbygning, Copenhagen, Denmark, Heima, Seyðisfjörður, Iceland and at The Beat Museum, San Francisco, US among others.
Vedelsby has engaged in various teaching roles, screenings, and publications. She has taught at institutions such as Kunsthøjskolen på Ærø and Fatamorgana Danish School of Art Photography, Copenhagen Denmark and has had her work published in Kulturo Magazine (DK).
Her films have been screened at the International seminar about blindness and deafness in art and music at Inter Arts Center, aCinema at the Woodland Book Center in Milwaukee, WI, US and at Shower in Seoul, South Korea. She has received grants from the Danish Art Foundation and the Swedish Arts Grants Committee and a scholarship to attend the Othering & Belonging Conference organised by The Othering and Belonging Institute at UC Berkeley.
